Sun Mere Saajana- Lata Mangeshkar and Rafi- Film Aasoon 1953- Lyricist Qamar Jalalabadi- Music Husnalal Bhagatram

Film Aasoon, released in 1953 was a melodrama film with lot of teary scenes. The film is about a youth Shekhar, who falls prey to drinking and gambling habit. His aggrieved wife Kamini Kaushal, unable to bear the sorrow, keeps on crying and singing in miserable mood most of the parts of the film. The plight of Shekhar is salvaged by none other than the character of Pran.

The film was absolute bore, and bombed at Box office. What remained from the debris is the wonderfully composed music by Husnalal Bhagatram duo, who in her earlier days played an important role in shaping Lata's career. All the songs by Lata (She sang total 5 songs) were chart buster. They were melodiously composed. She had three solos and two duets in this film. The duets with Rafi, were particularly noteworthy for their sweetness and soulfulness. The film is forgotten long back, however it's heavenly music is still remembered by avid listeners of Hindi film songs. Lata's voice in early fifties was so tender and honey dipped. Therefore it is no wonder, even today the songs of film Aasoo, are listened and appreciated for their mellifluous harmony.
