Bol Pardesiyaa, Ye Tune Kya Kiya......

Bol Pardesiya Ye Tune Kya Kiya- Asha Bhosle- Film Mangu 1954- Majrooh Sultanpuri- Music O.P.Nayyar
Mangu was a Shekh Mukhtar production film released in 1954, with Shaikh Mukhtar himself in protagonist role. The songs of the film were penned by Saba Afghani, Majrooh Sultanpuri and S.H.Bihari. Music was scored by Mohammad Shafi and O.p>nayyar jointly. Mohammad Shafi gave music to only one song in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur ' Koi Pookare Dheere Se', which was a lorie song. Asha Bhosle had three solo songs, and this one is one of them sung in ardent note by Asha Bhosle under O.P.Nayyar's music.
Asha Bhosle- O.P.Nayyar association started with movie Cham Chama Cham'. Mangu was her second film in O.P.Nayyar's music. This association lasted till movie ' Pran Jaaye Par vachan Na Jaaye 1971'. Together, they created innumerable mesmerising, racy and rhythmic songs that kept generations foot tapping. It was composer O.P.Nayyar, who shaped Asha's singing career by bringing  out the true hidden potential in Asha's voice. The Quality of her voice in O.P.Nayyar's voice is different from that of under other composers. It was truly a very productive association. They were also rumoured to be romantically involved in each other. By 1971, however, they were not on talking terms, and finally after 'Pran Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaaye' movie, their association snapped in bitterness for inexplicable reasons.
The story of the film centers round the exploits and innate humanity of a giant-sized tramp called Mangu (Shaikh Mukhtar). His rugged exterior and enormous physical strength lend poignancy to the pleasing qualities of his heart. Never given to working for a living, he becomes a changed man when an innocent child, an heiress chased by assassins hired by her uncle, suddenly comes into his life and he takes upon himself the responsibility of sheltering her.
In this task he is aided by another tramp, a dwarf who justifies his name, Kamchor, by his abhorrence for work. For the sake of the child Mangu begins to work as a railway coolie and, in the colony where he lives, meets and falls in love with the daughter of a fellow-worker. On the other hand the hunt for the child continues unabated and Dr. Shorey, the wicked uncle of the child, tries every trick to deprive her of her inheritance.
Although in the the first film 'Cham Chama Cham' , Asha-O.P. association could not create the musical magic, in film Mangu, Asha is at her best totally justifying the lilting and undulating music of O.P.Nayyar. Take for example the songs, ' Man More Gaa Jhoomke', ' Dol More Man Pyase' or this song ' Bol Pardesiya, Ye Tune Kya Kiya'. All these song have inherent rhythm which was a hallmark of O.P.'s music, and Asha came in flying colours, rendering these songs.
