Dhun, released in 1953 was a musical film whose music was given by eminent music Director Madan Mohan.  The songs were written by Kaifi Irfani. This was the first time, Kaifi started writing for Madan Mohan. kaifi's prowess for writing , however was under utilized by film industry. Only selected composers like Anil Biswas and Madan Mohan knew his true worth.

When we consider the music of Madan Mohan, Lata's voice had played an important role . The association both genius produced numerous precious and immortal musical gems. In fact Talat and Lata's voices were an integral and indispensable ingredients in his music.  Whereas composer Ghulam Hyder introduced Lata to film industry, it was the music of composers like Husnalal Bhagatram, Anil Biswas, C.Ramchandra and Madan Mohan which fetched fame and recognition for her. Especially C.Ramchandra and Madan Mohan brought out the best of Lata . Madan Mohan and Lata Mangeshkar came together first time in film Ada 1951 ( Dukhiyare Naina Dhoondhe Piyako). Their association lasted till Madan Mohan's death and even after that (Veerzara).The spectrum of musical colors Lata covers under his music baton is very vast with changing shades to suit various states of mind and emotions. However some classes of her songs are distinctly superior and carry a divine beauty.  Sad songs or songs of separation or "gham e judai" by Lata are deeply influencing like 'Vaikal mora manwaa tujh bin haye', 'Haye Re wo din kuon na aaye', 'kat tay hain dukh mein ye din', 'hai jiya roye', 'tum na janey kis jahan', and so on. This song has an ethereal touch and mystique ambiance. It transports the listener to new world. Lata's voice fully laden with pathos, brings out the agony of separation and miseries of a bleeding heart. Simply awesome and captivating song......
